　　感恩节到了, 在感恩父母、老师、长辈的同时, 我们不该忽视身边很多平凡却又伟大的人们。

　　Thanksgiving is coming. While thanking our parents, teachers and elders, we should not ignore many ordinary but great people around us.

　　寒风刺骨的冬日，当我们裹紧身上的棉衣，步伐匆匆的走过街道时，却总能看到这样一群身影——他们低着头，或扫落叶，或铲积雪，或清理垃圾……不停地在路面忙碌着，为城市环境卫生保驾护航，他们就是辛勤工作的环卫工人们。

　　On the bitter winter day, when we wrap our tight cotton padded clothes and hurry across the street, we can always see such a group of figures - they lower their heads, sweep away fallen leaves, shovel snow, or clean up garbage... They are busy on the road and escort the urban environmental sanitation. They are hard-working sanitation workers.

　　在2021年的感恩节前夕，Orbis Club的社长邹涵琪联合Key Club组织全体社员一起走进社区，深入了解慰问环卫工人，并做出实际行动为环卫工人们减轻工作量，创建更加整洁的社区环境。

　　On the eve of Thanksgiving in 2021, Zou Hanqi, President of Orbis club and key club organized all members to go into the community together, deeply understand and comfort the sanitation workers, and take practical actions to reduce the workload of sanitation workers and create a cleaner community environment.

　　正式前往社区清洁前，为了让全体社员们能够更加了解垃圾的分类，在11月17日的社团活动课上，Tina和Iris为大家详细讲解普及了相关知识。

　　Before going to the community, in order to let all members know more about the classification of garbage, Tina and iris explained in detail and popularized relevant knowledge in the club activity class.

　　11.21 Interview with sanitation workers

　　为了更加了解环卫工人的日常生活和工作内容，奥比斯周末组织了两名同学前往附近社区进行深入采访，并为正在工作的环卫工人们送去了矿泉水。

　　In order to better understand the daily life and work content of sanitation workers, Orbis organized two students to conduct in-depth interviews with nearby communities over the weekend, and sent mineral water to the working sanitation workers.

　　这次采访对我受益匪浅，我总共采访了五位环卫工人。

　　当我问起他们在工作中是否有任何困难，其中大部分环卫工人都提到了下雨天和下雪天，他们说他们也没有办法这是他们的工作，是他们的职责，所以他们必须要克服困难，这种坚韧不拔的精神令我十分敬佩。

　　我还问了他们在工作中是否有些垃圾比较难处理，他们都一致说口香糖，尤其是夏天每当粘到地上的时候，真的是特别难清理。

　　由此看来，人们的素质有待提高，是对环境的保护意识有待提高。同时环卫工人们也希望大家都能够不乱丢垃圾，爱护环境人人有责。

　　This interview benefited me a lot. I interviewed a total of five sanitation workers.

　　When I asked them if they had any difficulties in their work, most of the sanitation workers mentioned rainy and snowy days. They said they had no way. This was their job and their duty, so they had to overcome difficulties. I admire their perseverance.

　　I also asked them if some garbage was difficult to deal with at work. They all agreed that chewing gum, especially when it stuck to the ground in summer, was really difficult to clean up.

　　From this point of view, people's quality needs to be improved, which is to improve their awareness of environmental protection. At the same time, the sanitation workers also hope that everyone can not litter and take care of the environment. Everyone is responsible.

　　让我们这个冬天走进社区

　　在11月23日和24日，Orbis和Key的全体社员走进马桥社区，清扫路边垃圾。

　　他们三两一组，手里拿着夹子、袋子、铲子等清洁工具地毯式巡查辖区环境卫生，分别对辖区内的卫生死角、灌木丛，小广告、路面遗留的烟头等进行逐一排查、打扫，并清理了辖区内不规范堆放的石板、砖块等。

　　On November 23 and 24, all members of ORBIS and key walked into Maqiao community to clean up roadside garbage.

　　In groups of three or two, holding cleaning tools such as clips, bags and shovels, they patrolled the environmental sanitation of the area, investigated and cleaned the sanitary dead corners, bushes, small advertisements and cigarette butts left on the road one by one, and cleaned up the stone slabs and bricks stacked irregularly in the area.

　　有的同学在捡停车位边上的烟头，有的同学走进灌木丛捡拾路人丢进去的矿泉水瓶，有的同学在拿铲子刮电线杆上的小广告...

　　社员们的感恩节活动感想

　　林奕萱 Kristy

　　社区清洁志愿者活动让我为社会做出了自己的一份贡献，并且感受到了许许多多，也学习到了关于垃圾回收的知识。在清洁的过程中，我还感受到了劳动的乐趣。我希望有更多的人加入到慈善活动中，为社会发展奉献出自己的一份力量，让我们的生活更美好。

　　Community cleaning volunteer activities let me make my own contribution to the society, and feel a lot, but also learn about the knowledge of garbage recycling. In the process of cleaning, I also felt the joy of labor. I hope that more people join in the charity activities, contribute to the social development of their own strength, let us live a better life.

　　作为这次志愿者活动的摄影师，个人认为这次活动是非常有意义的。首先在这次活动中，同学们都暂时从学习的压力中解脱出来，去感受了平时日常生活中感受不到的事情，因为在自己平时生活中，真的很少会去注意街边的卫生，尤其是在草丛中，停车位那些位置的垃圾烟头，平时真的很难注意到。直到在这一次看其他同学在很幸苦的清洁卫生时，才发现路边草丛中看似干净但是垃圾还真不少!有酒瓶，废纸，食品包装袋等等。其中很多都是塑料玻璃制品，要知道这些物质想降解是需要花费几十年的时间的。在这次活动后，意识到了平时生活中有不少垃圾乱扔的现象以及知道了环卫工人的辛苦。在学习垃圾分类以及乱扔垃圾的危害后，同学们在这次活动中也表现得非常积极。虽然大家多多少少都会感受到些许辛苦，但是我在拍摄过程中没有听到任何一句抱怨声反而更多的是欢声笑语以及对于环卫工人的关心。大家都在用积极的态度去参与这次活动!但其实在活动之后自己也反思了很多并且感受到了环卫工人的伟大。我们因为有同学相伴才能比较轻松愉悦的清理完一条街道。但是环卫工人他们需要在一年四季中，不分昼夜的情况下工作，去保证我们生活环境的干净卫生，并且他们往往只有几人，却要负责好几条街道。在他们的工作中，没有那么多的欢声笑语，更多的都是一个人默默的清扫街道，只要脏了就扫干净，每天清扫街道一遍又一遍，周而复始。他们可能抱怨过感受到我们无法感受到的失落，疲劳。但他们依旧在为我们社区的干净卫生所奋斗，而这也就是他们默默奉献的伟大之处!

　　It's a great experience to participate in this activity. We cleaned the road and picked up a lot of wastes. It's a great time spent with friends to do some great contributions to our beloved environment.

　　Well, the quantity of the trashes really shocked me, it exceeds the amount that I have expected. I hadn't realized that there would be that much of trashes under these bushes that we saw everyday.

　　I felt bad for our beloved environment when seeing the cruelity it got with all these trashes. I guess that I will learn more envirment-related science in the future and hopefully can contribute more to our planet by maintaining its beauty.

　　非常高兴能够参加此次活动，让我锻炼了自己，也保护了环境。这次活动让我感受到了环卫工人的辛苦，也让我知道了在随手丢垃圾的背后是环卫工人的辛勤劳动，在此，我呼吁大家，不要乱扔垃圾，为创造一个干净，整洁的环境出一份力!

　　I'm very glad to participate in this activity, which makes me exercise myself and protect the environment. This activity makes me feel the hard work of sanitation workers and let me know that behind littering is the hard work of sanitation workers. Here, I appeal to you not to litter and contribute to creating a clean and tidy environment!

　　社团指导老师的活动感想

　　What else can you possibly be doing besides being taught by teachers in school on a lovely sunny afternoon at LWS? Well, the Orbis and Key club have answers. We decide to take our club members out during Thanksgiving week and participated a charity event called “Save the environment Walkathon”, where the club members are team up in groups and within each group they were given different tools to help them clean the streets and protect the environment in the surrounding residential neighborhoods.

　　We walked along the streets and either hand picked or using tools to pick up identified garbage/plastic/cigarette and shovel any advertisement stickers on lampposts and collect them all in the garbage bags and our results are fruitful. We believe after students went through the meaningful experience, they will be able to walk a mile in cleaning staff’s shoe and think what they think and feel what they feel and have empathy toward those who take this job as a daily living. This is something that they won’t be learning in the classroom and after this we see their friendship have grown, they are becoming more mature and understand the bigger picture about human relationship and protecting the environment. As teachers we are very happy to see how they have been actively involved in this fulfilling project during this special week. Well done all!

　　Shout out to Teacher Nick, Teacher Patricia, Fiona, Dora, and Bowen for their great efforts and attention to detail on the bushes during first day of cleaning next to the Family Mart. Also, I liked seeing the persistence and carefulness of Angela, Jack, and the two Stevens collecting the plastic and broken glass near the playground on the second day. It really has improved the health and safety of all children and pets that want to play in the surrounding area. 谢谢你们!加油

　　As Key Club advisor, I'm very proud of our students. The organization was neat and they worked so hard for this volunteer work. We also had a lot of fun, which is also very important part of every job. I feel we all enjoyed this activity and I really hope that we organize similar events in the future!

　　天气越来越冷了，环卫工人在路面工作时更加辛苦。奥比斯社团倡议更多的爱心人士和我们一起关心环卫工人们，尊重并珍惜他们的劳动成果，做到不随手乱丢垃圾，自觉维护环境卫生。让我们在寒冷的冬日中，用自己的实际行动，向环卫工人传递一份温暖!
